The DRI (Diretoria de Relações Internacionais e Interinstitucionais) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) is the central administrative office responsible for promoting and managing the university's global engagement.

Milestones in Internationalization

  • 1997 – The Beginning: The Escritório de Relações Internacionais was created and administered by Mr. Paulo Marcos Pires. This was the first dedicated space for international affairs at UFU.

  • 2005 – Official Creation: The office was formally established as the Assessoria de Relações Internacionais e Interinstitucionais (ASDRI). It was initially led by advisors Rossana Valéria de Souza e Silva and Raquel Santini Leandro Rade.

  • 2009 – Upgrade to Directorate: The ASDRI was elevated to the status of a directorate, becoming the Diretoria de Relações Internacionais e Interinstitucionais (DRII). Raquel Santini Leandro Rade served as the first director from 2009 to 2016.

  • 2017 – Leadership Change: Waldenor Barros Moraes Filho took over as director, a role he held from 2017 to 2024.

  • 2025 – Current Leadership: The directorate is currently led by Valeska Virgínia Soares Souza, with a mandate extending to 2028.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement internationalization policies.
  • Articulate, monitor, and support international academic mobility (incoming/outgoing).
  • Manage Bilateral Cooperation and Double Degree Agreements.
  • Represent UFU at international bodies, events, and institutions.

 

Mission: To promote and facilitate UFU's interaction with the international context.

Vision: To be among the most internationalized universities in Brazil.

 

The DRI's primary activities include:

  • Establishing relationships with international institutions, seeking and publicizing opportunities for the UFU academic community

  • Receiving foreign delegations

  • Institutionally representing UFU in Brazil and abroad

  • Facilitating academic cooperation agreements between UFU and international institutions

  • Facilitating and promoting international academic mobility for UFU students

  • Hosting international students on academic mobility at UFU, offering support and information about institutional administrative procedures
