Merit Scholarship (Bolsa Mérito) – PEC-G
The Merit Scholarship is a financial aid program offered by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) to students participating in the Undergraduate Exchange Program (PEC-G) who demonstrate outstanding academic performance.
Purpose
The scholarship aims to recognize and support high-achieving international students enrolled in Brazilian higher education institutions under PEC-G.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, the student must:
- Be a PEC-G student regularly enrolled in a participating Higher Education Institution (HEI);
- Have completed at least two academic semesters (or one year) of undergraduate studies;
- Demonstrate excellent academic performance.
Benefits
- Monthly stipend of approximately R$ 1,400;
- Duration of up to 6 months, with the possibility of renewal through a new application;
- Eligibility to request a return airfare to the home country upon graduation, if previously awarded the scholarship.
Selection Process
- Selection is conducted every semester through a public call (edital);
- Applications must be submitted via the student’s university to the Division of Educational Cooperation (DCE);
- Required documents and procedures are specified in each edital.

- Submission of a complete application file (usually in PDF format);
- Documentation must be sent through the institution responsible for PEC-G at the university;
- Incomplete or incorrect applications may be disqualified.
