Portuguese for Integration (PAmb)

The Online Portuguese Course for Integration (PAmb) is an outreach program focused on teaching Portuguese as a host language, that is, on cultural integration and adaptation. It is developed by the Training Program for Internationalization (ProInt), a group that belongs to the Office of International Relations (DRI) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU). This project is designed for beginners over the age of 18 who are interested in learning the language for use in practical, everyday situations. Although open to the public, the program’s primary focus is on international students planning to participate in academic mobility (exchange) at UFU. In addition to teaching the language, the course plays an important role in developing cultural competencies and supporting the university’s own internationalization process. The course has a total workload of 40 hours. It is offered in two different formats throughout the year: the Regular module (lasting five weeks with two weekly online sessions) and the Intensive module (a condensed three-week program with one weekly session).
On May 27, 2026 registration closed for this year’s third offering (the Regular module). We ended up with more than 500 registrations in total from people in various countries, such as: Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, the Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Mexico, among others.
This Monday (June 1), we held our first meeting with the students to explain how the course works, how to access the platform used for the activities (MOODLE-CEaD), and then we opened the floor for questions and introductions. The students were engaged and grateful for the project. In the WhatsApp group where we stay in touch and share information, students interacted with one another and addressed questions from those who couldn’t attend the first meeting.
This current session will take place from June 1 to July 3, 2026, and registration is now open for the fourth and final intensive session (three weeks) of the year. Registration will remain open until August 20, and the program will run from August 24 to September 11. You can register through the link: forms.gle/L4wPRNZQ96m8CEhV6
